Aimovig® is a medication used to prevent migraine attacks. It belongs to a group of medications called Calcitonin Gene-Related Peptide (CGRP) Inhibitors. It works by blocking a key migraine trigger before it can activate nerves and cause a migraine attack. Since it is injected on a consistent, monthly schedule, this protection stays in place 24/7 to continuously lower the frequency of migraines.

Be sure to discuss your medical history, current medications, and any concerns with your provider so they can determine whether Aimovig® is right for you. Tell your medical provider if you have high blood pressure and circulation problems in your fingers and toes. Let your provider know if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.

The most common side effects of Aimovig® are pain, redness, or swelling at the injection site and constipation. More serious side effects include allergic reaction, constipation with serious complications, high blood pressure, and Raynaud’s Phenomenon. If you experience severe side effects, please seek immediate in-person medical care.

It's important to tell your provider if you are taking any other medications, over-the-counter drugs, supplements, or if you have any allergies. If you start using any new medications while taking Aimovig®, let your provider know. Check with your provider before stopping or starting any of your current medicines.

Aimovig® is a once-monthly injection that you can administer at home following the instructions from your provider. Aimovig® comes in an easy-to-use autoinjector pen.
