Ubrogepant

Ubrelvy® is a medication used to treat migraine attacks. It belongs to a group of medications called Calcitonin Gene-Related Peptide (CGRP) Receptor Antagonists, also known as gepants. It works by blocking the receptors in the brain that are believed to trigger pain, inflammation, and dilation of blood vessels. By doing so, Ubrelvy® relieves migraine pain and related symptoms.

Be sure to discuss your medical history, current medications, and any concerns with your provider so they can determine whether Ubrelvy® is right for you. It is important to remember that Ubrelvy® is a rescue medication, intended to treat a migraine once it has started. It will not prevent future migraine attacks.

Tell your provider if you have a high blood pressure, circulation problems in your fingers and toes, liver problems, or kidney problems. Let your provider know if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding. Ubrelvy® may cause dizziness and drowsiness, so you should avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how the medication affects you.

The most common side effects of Ubrelvy® are nausea and sleepiness. More serious side effects include allergic reactions, high blood pressure, and Raynaud’s phenomenon. If you experience severe side effects, please seek immediate in-person medical care.

It's important to tell your provider if you are taking any other medications, over-the-counter drugs, supplements, or if you have any allergies. If you start using any new medications while taking Ubrelvy®, let your provider know. Check with your provider before stopping or starting any of your current medicines.

Ubrelvy® should not be taken if you are taking medicines known as strong CYP3A4 inhibitors, such as ketoconazole, clarithromycin, or itraconazole, or if you are allergic to Ubrelvy® or any of its ingredients.

Ubrelvy® works best if it is taken at the first sign of a migraine attack. You may take one additional dose two hours after the first dose if your migraine returns or does not improve, but do not use more than the maximum dose recommended by your provider.
