Cambia® is a medication used to treat migraine attacks. It belongs to a group of medications called Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs). When used during a migraine attack, it helps relieve and prevent further pain. Cambia® works by blocking chemicals that promote pain, inflammation, and fever in the body. This can help decrease migraine pain and related symptoms like nausea and sensitivity to light and noise.

Cambia® is a rescue medication. It is intended to treat a migraine once it has started. It will not prevent future migraine attacks.

Be sure to discuss your medical history, current medications, and any concerns with your provider so they can determine whether Cambia® is right for you. Tell your medical provider if you’re taking ACE inhibitors, acetaminophen, aspirin, or other NSAIDs such as ibuprofen (e.g. Advil®, Motrin®). Let your provider know if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding. Cambia® may cause dizziness and drowsiness, so you should avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how the medication affects you.

The most common side effects of Cambia® are nausea, vomiting, heartburn, gas, dizziness, drowsiness, and diarrhea. More serious side effects include hearing changes (like ringing in the ears), mood changes, and difficulty or pain swallowing. If you experience severe side effects, please seek immediate in-person medical care.

It's important to tell your provider if you are taking any other medications, over-the-counter drugs, supplements, or if you have any allergies. Cambia® should not be taken with over-the-counter pain relievers, such as Aspirin® or ibuprofen. If you’re currently on any of these medications, you must talk to your provider before taking Cambia®. If you start using any new medications while taking Cambia®, let your provider know. Check with your provider before stopping or starting any of your current medicines.

Cambia® comes in a single-dose packet that should be emptied into 1 to 2 ounces of water. Mix the contents of the packet with the water and drink immediately. Use Cambia® with water only–do not use any liquid other than water. Take Cambia® with a meal if you experience nausea. For best results, use all of your Cambia packets before their expiration date.

Cambia® is designed to work quickly and may deliver relief in under 30 minutes. However, sometimes it can take up to an hour for your migraine to completely go away.
